Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts have released Apex Legends, a free-to-play battle royale-hero shooting game. It was released in February 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, in March 2021 for Nintendo Switch, and in March 2022 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Apex Legends Mobile, a touchscreen-optimized mobile version of the game, has also been announced, with a release date of 2022 on Android and iOS. The game is cross-platform compatible. Players establish two- or three-player squads before the game and choose from pre-designed characters with unique skills known as “Legends.” There are two game modes in this game. Up to 20 three-person squads or 30 two-person duos descend on an island in “Battle Royale,” searching for weapons and supplies before attempting to combat all other players. The island’s available play area diminishes with time, forcing players to keep moving or risk becoming trapped outside the play area, which can be deadly. The round is won by the last team standing. In “Arenas,” participants divide into three-player squads and compete in a 3v3 team deathmatch over a number of rounds to determine the match’s winner. Teams win when their team has at least 3 points and is 2 points ahead.

Is there going to be an Apex Legends mobile version?

Yes, there is going to be an Apex Legends Mobile version. While EA hasn’t revealed much information on the upcoming mobile game yet, they did announce the Apex Legends Mobile Beta will begin in late 2021 and a full release is expected in 2022.

EA plans to make the game accessible to as many players as possible by releasing it on Android and iOS devices. Along with that, they’ll eventually add new features like cross-play between mobile and console or PC versions of the game.

Luckily for us Apex Legends fans, we don’t have to wait until 2022 for any new content from EA. The Season 8 of the game was released on February 2nd and it brought tons of cool new updates (including a playable character named Fuse).

Gameplay of Apex Legends

Apex Legends is an online multiplayer battle royale game in which three players form a team and use pre-made characters with unique abilities known as “Legends,” similar to those found in hero shooters. Since the game’s debut, alternate modes have been added that allow for single and two-player squads. The game is free to play and is supported by microtransactions and loot boxes, which let players to purchase cosmetic things such as Legends clothing and new weapon colours using both real money and in-game cash.

Each contest usually consists of twenty three-player teams. Players can form a squad with friends or be matched with other players at random. Each player on the squad chooses one of the 20 playable characters (as of season 12), with the restriction that no character may be chosen by a squad more than once. Each member of the squad has their own design, personality, and talents, allowing the team to play in a variety of ways. After that, all of the teams board an aircraft that flies over the game map. Each squad has a jumpmaster who decides when the squad should jump out of the plane and where they should land with the help of the other squad members. However, players are free to deviate from the squad’s path.

Once on the ground, the team can scavenge for guns, armour, and other equipment strewn about buildings and in crates strewn about the area, all while keeping a look out for enemy squads. Apex Legends incorporates a nonverbal communication “ping system” that allows players to transmit specific directives, weapon locations, adversaries, and proposed methods to their squad via their gaming controller. While the game’s movement choices are comparable to those found in other shooters, it also contains gameplay elements from earlier Titanfall games, such as the ability to climb over short walls, slide down inclined surfaces, and traverse an area fast via zip-lines.

The game’s safe zone shrinks over time around a randomly chosen spot on the map; players outside the safe zone incur damage and may die if they don’t get there in time. This also confines teams to limited spaces, forcing them to engage in combat. The “Apex Champions” of that match are the last squad with any members still living. Players that are knocked down during a game can be resurrected by their teammates. If a player is fully slain, their team member(s) can still resurrect them by collecting their respawn flag, which appears at the location where they died, and bringing it to one of the island’s various beacons. The banner, on the other hand, must be retrieved within a certain amount of time before it expires, thus eliminating the player.

Season 9 featured “Arena,” a new permanent mode. In this mode, players split into three-person squads and compete in a 3v3 team deathmatch over a number of rounds to determine the match’s winner. When a team has at least 3 points and is 2 points ahead, they win. In addition, if a game reaches round 9 (when both sides have four points), a sudden death round is played.

This scoring system, according to Respawn, “prevents total blowout games from hanging on for too long” and “allows more competitive games to maintain the heat for longer.” Players launch at a “store” where they can purchase equipment and charges for their Legend’s powers using materials acquired in previous rounds to prepare for the next fight, rather simply skydiving onto the area and grabbing stuff like in the battle royale mode. This version of the game incorporates elements from Counter-Strike and Valorant. The game’s first permanent departure from the battle royale format is this mode.
